Opening a Shared Plan
When someone shares a DiveToolbox dive plan link with you, what you see depends on whether you are logged in to a DiveToolbox account. This page covers both scenarios.
Not logged in: read-only view
If you open a shared link without being logged in, the plan is displayed in a read-only view designed to present all the plan details clearly.

Page layout
The read-only view includes:
- Header: the DiveToolbox logo, the date the plan was shared, and theme / language switchers so you can view the page in your preferred mode.
- Info banner: shows who shared the plan along with a call-to-action to create a DiveToolbox account.
- Plan details: all sections of the dive plan are displayed in full:
- Dive parameters (depth, runtime, deco time, average depth)
- Dive plan table with segment breakdown
- Decompression schedule (if applicable)
- Planned tanks and gas mixes
- Gas consumption data
- Safety metrics (PPO2, CNS, OTU, END, gas density)
- Plan settings (SAC rates, speeds, PPO2 limits)

Disclaimer
At the bottom of the read-only view, a disclaimer reminds the viewer to independently verify all dive calculations before relying on them.

A shared dive plan is provided for informational purposes. Always cross-check the plan with your own dive computer, tables, or planning software before diving. DiveToolbox is a planning tool, not a substitute for proper training and judgment.
Logged in: redirected to the dive planner
If you are logged in to your DiveToolbox account when you open a shared link, you are automatically redirected to the Dive Planner with the shared plan data loaded.
This gives you full access to the plan:
- View and modify: all dive parameters, tank configurations, and settings are populated in the planner. You can adjust any value and recalculate the plan.
- Recalculate: changes take effect immediately through the planner's auto-calculation. You can experiment with different depths, times, or gas mixes.
- Save as your own: once you are satisfied, you can save the plan to your own account using the standard save workflow.
This workflow makes it easy for dive teams to collaborate. One person can plan the dive, share the link, and each team member can load it, adjust for their own equipment and gas preferences, and save their personalized version.
